Oroville Civil Service Opening
There is currently an open position on the Oroville Civil Service Commission.
The Oroville Civil Service Commission provides a fair and neutral framework for being hired, fired, or promoted within the Oroville Police Department. The Civil Service administers the competitive exams held for Police Department employment. Appeals, appointments, promotions, transfers, reinstatements, demotions, suspensions, and discharges must follow the professional standards and rules set by the Civil Service.
The Oroville Civil Service Commission currently consists of Chairman Joe King, Vice-Chairman Mike Sibley, the third position is currently vacant, and Secretary, Chief-Examiner Emily Finsen. The Civil Service meetings are scheduled to be held the 4th Monday of each month, beginning at 4:30 pm in the City Council Chambers.
To be eligible to serve as a Civil Service Commissioner, the following requirements must be met:
- a citizen of the United States;
- a resident of the City of Oroville for at least three years preceding such appointment; and
- an elector of Okanogan County.
The members of the Civil Service Commission are appointed by the Mayor and serve a six year term; when the term for a commissioner expires, the Mayor may reappoint the member or appoint a new commissioner to the position. As this is a three-member board, two members of the Commission constitute a quorum; all Commission meetings are open to the public and the Commission encourages the public to attend.
If you are interested in joining the Civil Service Commission; please submit a letter of interest to Emily Finsen, City of Oroville, PO Box 2200, Oroville, WA 98844 by Friday, February 24th, 2023.
